Note:
This dish belongs to a rare type of Iznik ware, of slightly deeper form with a gently everted, sloping rim and a design probably derived from the hatayi motifs frequently seen on the underside of the early blue and white Iznik wares of the 1510-20s, here transformed into the dominant decorative scheme.

A dish of similar form and comparable design is published in Iznik - Ottoman pottery from the depths of the Adriatic, Muzej Mimara, Zagreb, Croatia, 18 May-13 September 2015, p.152, no.34. (source: Sotheby's)
