Description
The arms are of the De Heere family of Middelburg and Dordrecht. The kendi was part of a service commissioned by Huijbrecht Johan De Heere, who worked for the VOC.
The dating and identification of this service has been subject of change over the years due to the lack of decoration, estimates varying from 1735 to 1765 (the coat of arms appears on a seal mark as early as 1735). The De Heere family originated from Middelburg and Dordrecht in the Netherlands. (Sources: Kroes, 2007, C. Jorg, 1997, Will Motley, 'Hit & Myth', Cohen & Cohen, November 2000)
