Beschrijving
An extremely rare blue and white ewer modelled after a metal Mughal ewer, probably made for the Mughal market. It has a flared foot, a robust pear-shaped body, a strikingly straight spout and a curved handle rising from the body and attached to the compressed globular neck. The ewer is decorated with floral motifs in deep cobalt blue, with the veins and details reserved in white. Comparable decoration can be found on a hookah base, dishes and a covered bowl in the Topkapi Palace collection, dated to the late 17th century.
