Description
Of elegant double-gourd form, the lower bulbous section rising to a compressed upper bulb and a tall tapering neck, painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The lower register is decorated with a large peony spray issuing from rockwork, surrounded by flowering plants and scrolling foliage. The upper bulb is similarly adorned with flowering branches and foliate motifs. The neck is densely painted with stylized floral scrolls reserved against a dark blue ground, while the shoulder and waist are accentuated by geometric and ruyi-shaped borders.
