Description
The deep rounded bowl supported on a short tapering foot and fitted with a domed cover surmounted by a seated Buddhist lion (shizi) finial. Both bowl and cover are constructed with finely pierced reticulated panels, each divided into six circular medallions painted in underglaze cobalt blue with flowering plants, alternating against an intricate honeycomb diaper ground. The medallions are framed above and below by narrow bands of geometric lozenge diaper, while the lower body is encircled by a band of stylised ruyi-scrolls above the foot. The cover is similarly decorated with alternating floral medallions and pierced honeycomb panels, centred by a rectangular floral cartouche beneath the lion finial. The rims are neatly finished with an unglazed groove, the recessed base with an unglazed foot ring.
