Description
Of cylindrical form with a slightly flared mouth and neatly finished foot ring, finely painted in underglaze blue and overglaze enamels with a continuous river landscape. The scene is composed of dramatic scholar’s rocks, pavilions and cottages nestled amongst trees, with distant mountain peaks highlighted in pale green enamel. Flowering trees with iron-red blossoms and additional green foliage provide contrasting accents against the cobalt-blue landscape. The design is enclosed between double underglaze-blue line borders at the rim and foot. The recessed base is glazed and bears a single underglaze-blue artemisia leaf mark.
